There’s a little church thrift shop I visit once a month or so. Their prices are so cheap they make Goodwill look expensive. That’s how I got these salad sets for $1.

I know I often say how much my thrift shop finds cost. I hope it’s not obnoxious, like bragging. I do it because I want everyone to see that it is very possible to find wonderful treasures for next to nothing. Little things, mostly. Modest things. Obviously there are no Tiffany lamps waiting just for you to stumble upon them at Goodwill. But there are plenty of things that will come in handy in your day-to-day life.

To own something useful and beautifully made and recycled instead of newly bought, and to pay about 1/20 of the price of new, is for me a strong and simple pleasure.

I’m probably preaching to the choir, here.
