I have been loving the leaves this week. Walking every morning and just drinking up those luscious colors. There is so much inspiration in the colors and the textures and the play of light.

And of course I’ve been gathering. Lord, I have a sickness. Sami knows it’s time to sit when he sees me stoop down. I just can’t help it. Beautiful little bits of color for me to play with and collect. There is something very soothing - yet energizing - about touching the leaves and examining them.

When I get them home, I lay them out and try different things, like in the picture above. I’ve been doing stuff like this for the last year or so (acorns, plant parts, berries, and such) and I absolutely see how my creativity has grown through these “exercises.” It has also sharpened my powers of observation.

If anyone were to ask my advice about where to find inspiration and exercise their creativity, I would say do this. Find great stuff outside for free and bring it inside.
